This Privacy Policy explains how the current version of Gumeo and the website at https://gumeo.app handle information.

1. Summary

The current Gumeo app is free, local-first, and does not require an account.

The app does not collect or transmit personal data to Gumeo. It does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or an app analytics SDK.

The website is hosted by Vercel, uses privacy-focused Vercel Web Analytics, and may generate standard hosting logs. If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send.

2. Information Stored by the App

Gumeo stores limited information locally so its tools can remember your choices and operate correctly. This may include:

• selected roots, scales, chords, labels, tunings, and string counts;
• metronome tempo, meter, rhythm, accent, sound, and playback settings;
• Ear Trainer mode, difficulty, and question count;
• optional Focus Mode duration, session state, and Apple-provided selection tokens; and
• temporary playback or Live Activity state.

This information is stored in the app container or an Apple App Group shared by Gumeo and its extensions. Gumeo does not upload it to a Gumeo server.

Deleting the app generally removes app-container data. Some system-managed state may remain according to iOS behavior until it expires or is removed through system settings.

3. No Account or Cloud Sync

The current version has no sign-in, user account, onboarding profile, practice history, progress profile, subscription access system, or cloud sync.

Gumeo does not request your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, photos, or payment details inside the app.

4. Focus Mode and Screen Time

Focus Mode uses Apple FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings APIs. Apple presents the selection and permission controls.

Gumeo stores Apple-provided opaque selection tokens and related session state locally so the selected restrictions can operate. Gumeo does not receive Screen Time usage history and does not transmit your selected apps, categories, websites, or activity data to a Gumeo server.

5. Audio and Microphone

Gumeo does not request microphone access and does not record you.

Chord playback, fretboard notes, ear-training sounds, and metronome sounds are generated or played from audio bundled with the app. Metronome playback state may be shared locally with an Apple Live Activity on supported devices.

6. Website Hosting and Analytics

The Gumeo website is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process standard technical logs needed to deliver, secure, and operate the website, such as request time, IP address, browser information, and server diagnostics.

The website also uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement. According to Vercel, its Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies and does not associate analytics events with an individual or stored IP address. Analytics data points may include:

• page path and timestamp;
• referring site;
• filtered query parameters;
• approximate country or city;
• browser and operating system; and
• device type.

Vercel uses a short-lived request-derived hash to estimate visitors, and the visitor identifier is discarded after 24 hours. We do not configure custom analytics events that include names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers.

7. Support Emails

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and anything you include, such as your device model, app version, feedback, or screenshots.

We use this information only to respond, troubleshoot, maintain records of the request, protect the service, or comply with legal obligations. Do not send information that is not needed for support.

8. Earlier Versions of Gumeo

Earlier versions supported accounts, cloud data, and subscriptions through external providers. The current app no longer connects to those account, database, or subscription services.

Historical account, transaction, or support records processed before this change may remain with Apple or former service providers for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting, backup, or retention purposes under their own policies. Contact us if you have a question about data associated with an earlier Gumeo version.

9. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described in this Policy to:

• provide local app functionality;
• operate Focus Mode and app extensions on your device;
• measure aggregate website traffic;
• keep the website secure and reliable;
• respond to support requests; and
• comply with law and protect rights and safety.

10. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information and do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

Information may be processed by Apple for App Store and system services, by Vercel for website hosting and analytics, and by email providers when you contact support. We may also disclose information if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, rights, security, or the service.

11. Retention

Local app preferences remain on your device until you change them, reset relevant settings, or delete the app, subject to normal iOS behavior.

Vercel retains hosting and analytics information according to its service configuration and policies. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, keep an appropriate support record, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations.

12. Security

Gumeo minimizes risk by keeping current app settings on device and not operating an account database. We and our providers use reasonable safeguards, but no device, email system, or hosting service can be guaranteed completely secure.

13. Children

Gumeo is a general guitar tools app and is not directed to children for the purpose of collecting personal information. The current app does not create accounts or collect personal data.

If you believe a child has sent personal information through a support email, contact us so we can review the request.

14. International Use and Your Choices

Apple, Vercel, and email providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their terms, privacy policies, and applicable law.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to ask about, access, correct, or delete personal information held through support communications or earlier services. You can also delete local Gumeo data by removing the app from your device.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Gumeo, the website, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
