Gumeo is a guitar learning and practice app that helps users build practice routines, track progress, use focus tools, and access premium features through subscriptions.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using Gumeo, our app, and our website at https://gumeo.app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide and improve Gumeo.
Account Information
When you sign in to Gumeo, we may collect:
- your email address;
- your name, if provided by Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In;
- your authentication user identifier;
- your sign-in provider information, such as Apple or Google identity data needed to authenticate your account.
Gumeo currently supports Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. Email, phone, and anonymous sign-in are not currently used for the app.
Profile and Onboarding Information
When you complete onboarding or set up your profile, we may collect information such as:
- your guitar practice goals;
- skill level or practice preferences;
- onboarding choices;
- routine preferences;
- practice blockers or learning context you choose to provide.
This information helps Gumeo personalize your practice experience.
Practice and Progress Information
Gumeo may store and process practice-related information, including:
- practice tasks;
- completed practice items;
- favorites;
- custom sections or tasks;
- progress and streak information;
- recommendation history;
- practice sync snapshots.
Some of this information may be stored locally on your device and some may be synced to our backend provider, Supabase, so your account and progress can be restored or synchronized.
Subscription and Purchase Information
Gumeo uses Apple's In-App Purchase system and RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and premium access.
We may receive and process subscription-related information such as:
- subscription product identifiers;
- purchase and renewal status;
- premium entitlement status;
- RevenueCat app user identifiers;
- restore purchase status;
- transaction-related metadata provided by Apple or RevenueCat.
We do not directly collect or store your full payment card information. Payments are handled by Apple.
Notifications
Gumeo may send optional local notifications, such as practice reminders, streak reminders, comeback reminders, or paywall-related reminders.
Notification scheduling may use information such as:
- whether you have practiced recently;
- your current streak;
- whether you have completed onboarding;
- whether you have premium access;
- whether you have dismissed a paywall;
- your notification permission and in-app notification setting.
Gumeo currently uses local notifications. We do not currently use remote push notifications for these reminders.
Lock-In Mode, Screen Time, and App Extensions
Gumeo may include focus tools such as Lock-In Mode using Apple's Family Controls, DeviceActivity, ManagedSettings, widgets, Live Activities, or related extensions.
Information related to selected apps, focus sessions, timer state, or progress snapshots may be stored locally on your device or in App Group storage so Gumeo and its extensions can work together.
Based on the current app design, this Lock-In and extension-related state is not synced to Supabase unless otherwise stated in the app.
Website Information
Our website may collect standard server log information, such as browser type, request time, and IP address, through our hosting provider. During the latest review, no obvious cookies or analytics scripts were found on the public Gumeo website.
If we add cookies, analytics, or tracking tools in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy as needed.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- create and manage your Gumeo account;
- authenticate you through Apple or Google;
- personalize onboarding and practice recommendations;
- provide practice routines, progress, streaks, and practice history;
- sync account-related practice data through Supabase;
- manage premium access through RevenueCat and Apple;
- process restore purchases;
- support account deletion;
- send optional local reminders;
- maintain app security and prevent abuse;
- provide support and respond to user requests;
- improve app reliability and user experience.
3. Third-Party Services
Gumeo relies on trusted third-party services to operate the app.
Supabase
We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, Row Level Security policies, and backend functions such as account deletion.
Supabase may process account, profile, onboarding, and practice sync data as needed to provide Gumeo's core functionality.
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, premium entitlement status, subscription history, paywall configuration, and restore purchase behavior.
RevenueCat helps us determine whether your account has an active premium entitlement.
Apple
Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store subscriptions, StoreKit, subscription billing, Family Controls, local notification permissions, and other Apple platform services.
Apple handles App Store payments. Subscription cancellation and refund requests are managed through Apple.
We use Google Sign-In through Google OAuth and Supabase authentication. Google may provide your email, name, and Google user identifier for authentication purposes.
Vercel or Website Hosting Provider
Our public website is hosted through a web hosting provider. The hosting provider may process standard technical logs needed to serve the site.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share or process information with third-party service providers only as needed to operate Gumeo, including Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, and our website hosting provider.
We may also disclose information if required to comply with law, enforce our rights, protect users, prevent fraud, or respond to valid legal requests.
5. Tracking and Advertising
Gumeo does not currently use third-party advertising tracking, IDFA-based tracking, or cross-app tracking.
If this changes, we will update our privacy disclosures and request any required permissions.
6. Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.
However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple ID, Google account, and other credentials secure.
7. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your Gumeo account from within the app, usually through Profile or Settings.
When you delete your Gumeo account, we aim to delete or remove access to account-related Gumeo data, such as profile and synced practice data, subject to technical, legal, fraud prevention, tax, and compliance requirements.
Deleting your Gumeo account does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription renewal. Apple subscriptions must be managed through Apple subscription settings.
Some purchase, transaction, subscription, or fraud-prevention records may continue to be retained by Apple, RevenueCat, or other service providers where required for legal, tax, accounting, security, or transaction-record purposes.
8. Subscription Cancellation
Gumeo subscriptions are managed through Apple.
To cancel a subscription, you must use Apple's subscription management tools, such as your Apple ID subscription settings.
Deleting your Gumeo account, uninstalling the app, or stopping use of the app does not automatically cancel your Apple subscription.
9. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Gumeo, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements.
Some local data may remain on your device until you delete the app, clear app data, sign out, or complete account deletion.
10. Children
Gumeo is not designed for children under the age required by applicable law to use online services without parental consent.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to Gumeo without proper consent, please contact us.
11. International Users
Gumeo may be used in different countries and regions. Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.
By using Gumeo, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country or region, subject to applicable law.
12. Your Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:
- access certain personal information;
- request correction;
- request deletion;
- object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent where applicable;
- contact us about privacy questions.
You can also disable notifications through iOS settings or Gumeo's in-app notification setting.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may notify you through the app, website, or other appropriate means.
The updated policy will be posted at https://gumeo.app/privacy.
