These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Gumeo mobile app and the website at https://gumeo.app.
By using Gumeo, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Gumeo.
1. What Gumeo Is
Gumeo is a guitar tools app. The current version provides a metronome, chord and fretboard tools, ear training, and an optional Focus Mode.
Gumeo is a support tool, not a course, professional instructor, medical service, or promise of a particular musical result.
2. Free Access and No Account
The current version of Gumeo is free and does not require an account, sign-in, subscription, or in-app purchase.
Gumeo may change its features or distribution model in the future. Any future paid feature would be presented clearly before a purchase and would be subject to the applicable App Store terms.
3. Earlier Subscriptions
Earlier versions of Gumeo offered subscriptions. The current app does not sell, restore, or use those subscriptions to unlock features.
If you subscribed through an earlier version, your Apple subscription is managed by Apple. Uninstalling Gumeo does not cancel an Apple subscription. Review and cancel any legacy subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings. Billing and refund requests are handled under Apple's policies.
4. Local Settings and Device State
Gumeo stores tool preferences and feature state locally on your device. Removing the app may remove this data. Gumeo does not promise that local settings can be recovered after deletion, device loss, operating system changes, or other storage failures.
5. Focus Mode and Screen Time
Focus Mode is optional and uses Apple technologies such as FamilyControls, DeviceActivity, and ManagedSettings. It can limit apps, categories, or websites that you select for a focus session.
You are responsible for choosing appropriate restrictions and for ending a session when needed. Gumeo does not guarantee that every distraction will be blocked, that restrictions will be uninterrupted, or that Focus Mode will work with every device, operating system version, or Screen Time configuration.
Do not rely on Focus Mode to block access in an emergency or for safety-critical supervision.
6. Metronome, Audio, and Live Activities
The metronome may continue audio playback in the background after you leave the app or lock the device. On supported devices, Gumeo may also show a Live Activity or Dynamic Island control while the metronome is active.
You are responsible for your device volume and listening environment. Avoid audio levels that may damage hearing or disturb others.
7. Practice and Physical Safety
Practice within your abilities and use suitable posture, volume, and equipment. Stop and seek appropriate professional advice if you experience pain, injury, hearing concerns, or other health issues.
Gumeo does not provide medical advice or guarantee improvement, accuracy in every musical context, or a specific learning outcome.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- misuse Gumeo or use it unlawfully;
- interfere with the app, website, security, or Apple system services;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code except where applicable law permits it;
- copy or redistribute bundled audio, fonts, data, branding, or other assets outside the permissions granted by their applicable licenses;
- use Gumeo to violate third-party rights; or
- abuse support channels or submit harmful content.
9. Intellectual Property and Licensed Materials
Gumeo's software, design, branding, text, and original assets are owned by us or used with permission.
Gumeo also includes third-party materials used under their respective licenses:
- Bravura Text by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1;
- a prepared subset of the AG-PT-set acoustic guitar recordings by Domenico Stefani and Luca Turchet, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0; and
- Salamander Grand Piano samples by Alexander Holm, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0.
Use of these materials does not imply endorsement by their creators. Their copyright notices and license terms remain applicable.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of Gumeo or any third-party material to you.
10. Third-Party Services
Gumeo relies on Apple for App Store distribution and optional system features such as Screen Time, background audio, and Live Activities. The website is hosted by Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics.
Your use of third-party services may also be governed by their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for services that we do not control.
11. Apple App Store Terms
Your download and use of Gumeo through the App Store is also governed by applicable Apple terms, including Apple's Standard End User License Agreement unless a custom agreement applies.
If these Terms conflict with mandatory Apple terms for App Store distribution, the applicable Apple terms control to the extent required.
12. Changes and Availability
We may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue Gumeo features. We do not guarantee that the app, website, system integrations, or every tool will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
Availability may be affected by software updates, device settings, Apple services, maintenance, network conditions, or circumstances outside our control.
13. Disclaimers
Gumeo is provided "as is" and "as available."
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and error-free operation.
Musical names, chord suggestions, diagrams, timing tools, and ear-training results are provided for general practice and reference. They may not cover every interpretation, tuning, voicing, or musical context.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, opportunity, goodwill, hearing, equipment, or business arising from your use of Gumeo.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above identifies the current version.
